So I'm looking at bad album covers and am surprised at how many of them include a bass, either electric or double. I would think that a bass would automatically make an album cover awesome (or at least not bad...):D

Whoa, that's Tony Newton from The New Tony Williams Lifetime! he played bass on their seminal 1975 fusion album Believe It.

Not quite sure what that instrument he's got there is all about though...

That Glenda and Richard album, that is a 60’s Fender electric mandolin. They omitted the extra course of strings. The Mr. Bullfrog thing, I’ve seen before(I love all that old, weird, cringe-inducing bad album art); yeah, creepy stuff.

Not an album cover, but a CL ad from a while back in the same spirit…

Thread Drift: I remember seeing those in old Fender catalogs when I was a wee teen and thinking "What a joke! No serious musician would ever play one of those!" Then I stumbled across a jazz album -- I think it might have been Jack DeJohnette's New Directions -- that had a picture of guitarist John Abercrombie playing one. Guess I was wrong.

Never really liked the whole aesthetic of this album cover…. Maybe I was born in a different time but it looks like an ad on the back of an old magazine to me. 9EC87353-09A4-48F8-9981-A187399E4015.jpeg

Maybe it’s an old album, appealing to a then older crowd?

I fail to see how any of these are bad album covers.

+1 on the Tony Newton album, actually I'm off to fleabay...

[Edit] Nope, not paying that much for vinyl even with that bass on the cover.
