I am continually astounded by the horrendous errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, capitalization, etc. that I see daily on Talk Bass.

I give a pass to anybody from a country where English is not the first language.

I am wondering how much of this is due to laziness vs. a general lack of English skills. I believe that, generally speaking in today's world, IM'ing, texting, etc. has made breaking rules and taking shortcuts acceptable. Is this "shotgun English" considered acceptable in a user forum such as Talk Bass?

If anything, TB has more grammar Nazis per capita than any other forum on the internetz.

  5. "Internet" shouldn't be pluralized, much less have a 'z' at the end.

I believe my Little Brown grammer book frowned upon the frequent use of "etc."

I do my best to be proper, but I'm sure I mess up every so often.

It probably also frowned upon the misspelling of the word "grammar".

    LOLZ and stuff and junk.

Perhaps you should browse a few other forums around the internet. TB will look like a grammatic utopia afterwards.

Woo, im excused from all grammatical errors! :D

  12. The issue to me is that there's no point in trying to communicate if you don't write clearly enough to communicate. I don't mind most errors, but the 4-inch-long posts with no punctuation, no caps and no way to break up the sentences stink. I have little patience with them because they do not communicate.

It's your consolation prize for having to pay exorbitant prices for basses.

Why would it surprise you? The US education system is a JOKE when over 60% of college graduates are functionally illiterate.

    :end rant:
