Bad sounding string

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by Davidoc, Feb 14, 2001.

  1. I have a rather offensive sounding string that hurts my ears. It's the A-string, (on a BEAD) It's real hard on the ears. It's hard to give it description. I use Slowounds by D'addario. What could the problem be?

I know that seems like a vague question, but the issue's bugging me!

  2. Did this happen after you put on a new set, or has it been an ongoing problem?

If so, did you change gauges?

Has there been any adjustments made to your bass?

Just trying to make your question less vague

Davy-o, have you tried a set of headphones ? I've set up in rooms that did funny things to low notes. Try tilting the cab back or another location for the amp. Even a step closer or further away from the speaker can make a significant difference. It's almost like certain notes are out of balance.
