i've tried playing it in and everything but it still sounds really metalic like. its been a while now and im loosing the will to play. could some one please tell me wether its the string, or just the way i've put it on, or maybe a mystery. please help.

If you only changed the one string it's certainly going to sound noticeably brighter in comparison to the others for some time. For consistency across strings, better put on a whole new set when you need to change.

What brand of string did you put on? I agree with lmoh in that you should just replace the entire set even if you got a cheap set of GHS or Ernie Balls.....btw in my own opinion stay away from the Dean Markley Blue steels(I'm pretty sure that is what they were called)...awful bright sound.
