Is it possible to get a bad tone from a warped neck. My open E's used to ring out for a long time, now it's just a short ring. is it from the neck? :bassist:

  2. Are you sure it's not just time for some new strings?

  3. Is your neck warped?

I have a weird neck on my ESP (one side is straight and the other is bowed) and it's been sounding horrible.

but this is because the strings are covered in blood, sweat, and vodka. and they're over a year old. i really need new strings.

An open string that doesn't sound good is indicative of a nut problem. Try fretting the same string. If it sounds better fretted, have somebody knowledgeable check out the nut.
