I have a Bag End S15D (8 ohm) with a Eden Wt330. I like round, fat sound with a Precision and flats. I am looking at playing some larger clubs and wondering about another BE (which I know many rave about) or possiby matching it with an Eden 210xst which, from what I have read here sounds like it is a smoother sound than the 210Xlt. I am thinking the Eden gives me a different sound if I use it as a stand alone versus the BE, but I am wondering if they match well when used together. Anyone used this combination? I don't play 5 string and the music is mostly jazz and light pop (Norah Jones, Diana Krahl, etc.) Thanks for helping out an old guy!
I own both but do not use both at the same time. Eden XST is a smoother ,even sound vs the XLT. I was able to demo both before buying. The Bag End is more old school sound vs Eden. It's loud and punchy and fairly responsive for note attack. I use the Eden on larger venues, 500 W and the Bag End, 200 W on smaller gigs. I play nothing but 5 strings and use roundwounds most of the time so I'm giving you a very different perspective.
Two matching Bag Ends is the way to go. They will play MUCH nicer than a franken setup BE + Eden. Many on TB love the s15d stack. Thats what I would do.
I use a bag end 15d with an older eden 210d . My eden is somewhat different than the xst , so I don't know how this comparison will hold up. Of course each cab has it's own tonal characteristics, but when I use them together they produce a nice blended sound . They seem to both have 103db spl.- neither cab is overbearing. YMMV,IMO ect...
I haven't paired my S-15XD with an Eden 210, but I have paired it with an Aguilar 210, and it was a disaster. The Aguilar was completely drown out, and I'm pretty sure the two of them together caused some phasing problems because the volume dropped quite a bit with both hooked up. The BE by itself was louder than the two together. I bought a second BE, and now I couldn't be happier.
I'm an S15 guy and like some of the same music you like. I hated the 210XLT when I finally got a chance to try one. Played loud, it was all low mids which sounded like CACK which as you can guess is neither smooth nor warm. Never tried the XST but I can't imagine it's much different. I bought another S15 and later a D10D and love both.
Thanks for the input. It sounds like the best thing is to just match it up with another Bag End. Probably can't go wrong. The Eden xst just interested me from some of what I read. Might look at one to have something different at some point if I have a few extra bucks and find a good local deal on one. There are a few (but not many) dealers reasonably near me.
