Ok, I got this bass in a trade. It needs a little work, but it works... but here's the major complaint.. how do you balance this thing? I've tried like 30 different arrangements for the straplocks, no go... the headstock + neck must weigh more than the body... what should I do, I'm sick of having to hold it up to play it.

    Advice?

Warlocks have lousy balance. The USA and NJ ones are a tad better due to the denser (heavier) body wood, but they are all pretty awkward. I recomend getting a very thick leather strap that won't slide across your shoulders. Also leaning heavily on the back corner of the body with your forearm helps to tame neckdive.
