  1. I have no idea what strings are on my bass. Is there a way to tell by the color of the ball ends..I know swing bass has the red thread so thats out..the ones on mine are all gold ( Brass)...

    GHS maybe?

Any coloured silks up at the tuners as well?

  3. nope

  4. No silk with brass ball ends = too generic for positive ID.

A couple of things you can do...
    • Measure the length on the E string from the ball end to where the taper starts at the tuner end. It's called "winding length", which can vary according to the manufacturer.
    • Take a magnifying glass to the ball end to see if they're hex core or round core.

  5. lol or buy new strings then I know exactly what I have..which is the obvious choice...I wish I knew tho because they are pretty good strings and Ive had them on for about 1 1/2 years (gasp) and they still sound good..
