Bands like these...

Discussion in 'Rockabilly [DB]' started by DonaldFraser, Oct 7, 2018.

  1. I got into Roses Pawn Shop when they released their first record, years ago. I also got into Skeeter Truck. And over the last decade I’ve only ever come across these two bands that mix Americana/country with just the right hint of punk edge.
Is there any other bands like this that I’m failing to find?

    Frankly Lee

    The arsonist

Just to make sure you’re not missing an obvious (to me) band: are you a fan of the Old 97s?

WOW, I like Skeeter Truck! Closest thing I have is High Noon from Texas, more of a rockabilly/western swing trio who put out a couple of albums in the 90's, not sure if you can find 'em today. Great thumpin' bass!

  7. Skeeter Truck has always been one of my favorites. I can’t seem to find them on iTunes anymore though.

I’ll check out High Noon. Thanks!

Funny — I saw them both at a venue in Asheville last year. Fun, FUN shows. I’m a big fan of Bridget.

On Topic: I got nothing, but I’m following this thread with interest!

Thanks FBG, I know some of the artists you posted but there's plenty more to explore! And here's some High Noon!!

  13. @FatBoutedGirls thanks!! That bassist with Imelda lays it down!! Can’t wait to watch the rest.
  14. So I’m my musical wanderings I came across this:
    Phantom Of The Black Hills

  15. If I had come across that in my musical wanderings I don't think I would have posted that link. Is that more what you are looking for? I was going for more bass showcasing videos but we can focus on americana/metal/punk fusion.

In the meantime, I forgot the Starline Rhythm boys:

Here's a bass shaped like a coffin if that's what you are into:

    Speaking of funny shaped basses:
    Split Lip Rayfield:

  16. I only posted it because I didn’t know that a fusion like that existed, I’m curious to everyone’s thoughts.

I did say in the first post that I was looking for groups with a punk edge, but I really dig all the groups everyone is posting.
I say let’s keep this going.
