Bands that got better...

Tried to think of a positive spin on this one and that's what I came up with. I listened to something a buddy posted on facebook. It was a Sleep show from 1994. It's here:
), they're just generally better musicians and better at what they do nowadays.

Any of you ever felt the same way about another band? Just curious. Pretty much all we ever hear is "I saw them way back when and they were so much better... They suck now..." sort of stuff, but this is honestly one of those times where I think it's better to have seen them now... Or recently, anyway.

I might be alone in thinking this, but the Chili Peppers kept getting better for a long time. They did decline, finally, but it took two full decades.

No you are not!!
People use to think I'm crazy when I encourage them to have a propper listen at Stadium Arcadium. Of course it has some weak tracks, but most of it is amazing stuff!
Well, maybe I went too far and for you SA was actually the start of their decadence :ninja:

I like their 94 video a lot more actually, it's so much more energetic and the band mix is better IMO. I don't like just having an earful of Matt Pike.

Their (RHCP) production quality certainly improved over the years. Improvement in the quality of their music is debatable.
Exactly...'cause those early albums (the 1st 3) are raw & very, very good.
For me, they hit their stride with Mother's Milk & BSSM. A good mix of "the raw" with production.

Another band, very raw at the beginning & then the production had them sounding like studio pros-
Alice Cooper
This is a certain thing about Pretties For You & Easy Action that is appealing for me, even now more than when I was first listened to these recordings (early '70s).
The production on the later albums (like School's Out) is light years ahead.
