Bartolini ? Deymore Duncan ? EMG ?

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by AllodoX, May 8, 2002.

  1. What is the main difference between these 3 in terms of sound ? specificly the 5-string jazzbass pickups..
  2. This should open a can or worms as most of the difference is subjective.

    My vote.

Barts for warm woody sound, atriculate, soft response, even across the whole range of tone.

Duncans usually more agressive, higher gain in many models. Many are designed to color the signal (boost highs and lows, Boost only highs.)

EMG Have that "low Impedance tone" which in my mind means super tight tone, deep but not boomy, sort of flat sounding usually.

If I have to vote one as the most all purpose it would be between Barts and Duncans, and at the moment I have been playing with Duncans more.
  3. ok.. so if would, say for instance, like to have real good lows on a 5-er with jazz pickups, barts would be nice ?
  4. I think that would sound great.
