I have had my CIJ 2004 Geddy for a few months now. The stock Fender Originals sound OK but I got curious. In my opinion they are passable, but would get lost, and perhaps lack some growl. I got the Bartolini 9jbc l3/s3 single coil classic set. I listened ad nauseum to you tube nordie fralin duncan ant. etc and thought I'd all least try these before Fralins.

Compared to Fender originals, the are clearly more articulate, and a general noticable improvement. I think I could use a better mid growl, and even these classic seem to lack the high shimmer. I like the low end and mids. Perhaps a bit less jazz bassy than I thought they would be.

I think the search will continue

Been thinking of trying a set of barts for similar reasons, the dimarzio area js i'm currently using are nice, but lack the snarl I'm looking for. PM me if you're interested in selling those bartolini's..

Maybe some Nordstrand Big J Blades in clean-and-clear trim?

I pulled the Barts and temporarily popped the Fender Originals back in. Of course, now THOSE are better. It does take awhile for your ears to adjust to find the things you like or don't like in a pickup set. The Fralins seem to have a slightly more pleasing top end to them based on the samples I've listened to. I don't know, now I'm a skeert to order anything.

  5. Sounds like you would've been better off with the in-line humcancelling Bartolini "Bright" jazz pickups (CBJD3). They retain those lows/mids that Barts are known for, but are wound to be bright (think 70's j bass/Marcus Miller).

Installed Nordstrand NJ4 60's wind. Much more to my liking very even, a bit of extra boom on the bottom. Nice product
