I've searched but I can't find an answer. I have a Bartolini preamp. With the preamp installed, the blue gain pot sticks to far out my control cavity to properly install my cover. I've seen other makers who use Barts place this pot else where but I can't get loose from the black module. They must have use super glue. Any advice to get it loose?
I see three optios: Heat softens glue, try a blow drier or heat gun call Bartolini and ask them, turn the case 90 so its sitting on the pots.
You could try fingernail polish remover and a qtip to see if you can loosen the trim assembly. Apply a little, gently pry with a blade, apply a bit more.
That's pretty much the same place I remember seeing the gain pot on all the Bart preamps I've had. Any chance that you could just shift the preamp a little farther down into the cavity? From the picture, it looks like there's a little clearance underneath it, and it appears to just be stuck onto the side with double-sided tape, but that may not be right.
Thanks guys. Nail polish remover and a Q-tip did the trick. I have one bad thing say. I was holding the bottle of nail polish removal and I dropped it. Half of it's contents spilled on the back of my bass. I have a hard shiny clear coat finish. I quickly go a hot towel and put in it soap and water and clean it off. I then dried my bass with a paper towel. Nail polish being a solvent like gasoline, I was afraid I damaged my finished. I kept inspecting last night and I didn't see any changes to my finish. Looks like I dodged a bullet.
