I personally prefer EMG's. They seem to cut more
and the Bartolini's don't have enough treble.
In a bass....duh
I gotta agree!!!!! I'm an EMG man myself. The EMG's seem to some more mids that make them cut through alittle better. I never liked any Barts in Tobias's or Warwick's & I put one in a MM & HATED IT!!!!! The only Barts I like are J's. A friend of mine has em in a Bass he built & their passive & sound KILLER!!!!! I also tried a Pedella Rapture J5 w/Bart J's & I LOVED IT. My Spector played & sounded better than the Pedulla, though.
What kind...duh? Nevermind I'll answer that...
a bass guitar
EMG's sound different in different instruments. I've heard some very brittle installs and I've heard a scant few that sounded great, not the stereotypical hi-fi sound.
I prefer Bartolinis because you really have to screw with them to make them sound brittle.
What you put them in and how you do it makes a huge difference...that's why I asked "In what?"...duh
Installing either is no guarantee you'll get a "Bartolini" or "EMG" sound.
I am a Bartman for the same reason, they sound a little warmer to me. Nothing against EMG's just like Barts better.
Brad what does HTH stand for?
Hide the hamster
Hope that helps
Depends on who I'm talking to
Ahh. I was thinking Hit the Highway.
Shouldn't this be in 'Pickups'?
Yeah, it should be
Hit the Hippo
Highway to Heck
Herman takes holiday
Happy to Help
Hit the Hay
Help the Homeless
hmm...i was thinking too about replacing the electronics in my Warwick Streamer LX5 to either Barts or EMG, anyone tried something like that before?
btw, I'm comparing similar pickups...I mean active humbucking not passive bartolini alnico Js to the Ceramic active EMGs.
I think I will buy Bartolini MME, the three coil MM replacement for my Sterling.. I think it will cure my weak G-string problem...the G-string on my bass that is..
