Bartolinis are made in?

Recently a bass player on a greek forum mentioned that Bartolini have moved all of their production out of the US. He was told this by a local luthier who said that because of this move he will no longer offer Barts as an option on his instruments.

Checking here, it would seem that they are still made in California, but given how old their site appears to be it may not reflect a relatively recent change.

Could the collective wisdom of this forum positively call BS on what the luthier claims? Note that I am not talking about the MK stuff, but Bartolini's more expensive lines of pickups and preamps.

Thanks in advance for any responses. :)

Up till few months ago Bill and Pat were still making their stuff here in Cali. Bill never mentioned moving anywhere and actually just hired a new employee last year....

Bartolini has a dusty site (web 0.5 style) but it's up to date most of the time.
I have not heard of a change.

Does it matter if they are made in greece or califorinia?

It can matter if you want to defend local production.
Now, Greece could use a boost to its economy these days. I'd buy.

Not quite as much as the luthier making things up does. :)

Yes, go buy an Odyssey bass or something, or else we'll take you guys down with us. :p

I'm cranky in my old age.
Bill is such a great old soul.

What wonderful PUPs and Pre's they make.

I've had a PJ set in my bass for 15 years and still, every time I plug I think it sounds awesome.
