I've been wondering for quite a while if GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) is a real condition?
    - or is it just an excuse made up, by the needy Bassplayer

    Please explain :hyper:

Yes, it is a disease and it's sorta like alcoholism. To the best of my knowledge there is no 12 step program for it yet and maybe there should be. Perhaps we here on TB could do the world a service by starting one.

Step 1: I'm powerless over bass gear and my life is unmanageable.

We tried a 12 step program... but when someone would share their testimony, the room would empty and you'd find everyone in a music store with cash or plastic in hand!

There sure is a 12 step program for it...

Keep buying basses. By the 12th one, you *should* be cured. I'm on step 8 myself with 9 and 10 in the works.

There is a 12 half step program to cure GAS.
  11. No! I don't have gas! How could you think that?

Antithesis of step 1: Bass gear is power. More bass gear is more power! That's why we have PLX3002 amplifiers, right? (3000 w@4 ohms bridged) "Luke, feel the powaaahhh! It is your destiny!"

    another acronym - R.I. - reissue.

Did we already do MIK, MIJ, CIJ, MIA, MIM?

Not bass related, but an acronym that actually became the common name for something is: SCUBA. It was originally an acronym for: Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus, but its become the name of the system rather than the acronym for the full name...... wow that was a pointless post....

If the GAS gets too bad, you could always try GasX. That's what my wife always makes me take anyway. She gets tired of always having to buy air freshener.
  20. what about 'bump'.....what does that mean. That's the only one I haven't figured out :crying:
