bass amp or bass (not cable ) shorting out

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by societysfinest, Feb 13, 2003.

  1. As i play with the band..sometimes it will be fine..but then it will just start shorting out over and over, stopping(no sound) and then pickinng up and playing. I tried it with 2 cables so i think its the amp, or amp input, or bass or bass input? can anyone help me with this? i have an ampeg B2r rack head if it matters.
  2. Hit a note, then jiggle the cable where it goes into the bass, then where it goes into the amp. If that doesn't tell you where the crackle is coming from, then take your fist and bang it hard on the top of the amp a few times.

Whereever it crackles, there's your problem.

  3. i guess i worded it wrong..its not a crackle..it plainly stops producing sound and then starts after a little.

It's probably something going intermittent in your amp. My amp was doing that, it's in the shop right now.
