bass buying dilemna

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by McCalister999, Jan 15, 2005.

  1. I'm buying a new bass, and have my eye on either a Spector performer 5-string, or a Schecter Stiletto Deluxe 5-string. The Spector has passive electronics, the Schecter has active. I was wondering if either one is better for playing metal. If not, I guess I'll just get whichever one is prettier :p
  2. if you can try them both out, then pick the one with the sound closest to what you're after, there's no right or wrong bass for any genre of music

I don't know anything about the Schecter, but I just picked up a 4 string performer for my daughter. Nice bass for the price! The 5 string Performers have a 35" scale, which is a nice touch on a less expensive instrument.

  4. Absolutely, go for the one that does it for you, not the one someone else likes. Like I said before, most basses do most things.
