    hi all

I just bought Fender Am Decluxe jazz bass.

the problem is that pickup which is closer to bridge generates buzz. the buzz stops if I touch strings or any metal part of guitar.

do you know if its seriuse problem or I can easly solve it ?

    cheers ;)

Typical single coil hum that is grounded when you touch any metal part. When you touch it, you will cause a ground and the hum to stop.

Simply, hang onto your bass, get a humbucking pickup, or match volumes between the pickups.

    thanks,

do you think I can shield bass somwhow and remove this buzz ?

  4. Its a grounding problem not a shielding one, so unfortunatly not

could always look at something like stacked J pickups, or the fender noiseless ones?

A jazz bass's pickups will act as humbucking and not hum if you have them both at the same volume, thats about it, as tplyons said, just hang on to the bass :smug:
