..Not sure where this goes but(John will appropriatly place it) I have a situation where I need to mic a cab for live performance. Won't use it much so I don't want to 'take out a loan' to get it. The only thing I've ever used in the past for this application was a 57. Thanks in advance, TalkBass members. :D

Interesting that you would Mic up the amp rather than DI? I'm sure you have your reasons.

The only time I've miced up my amp was in the recording studio. We went DI as well then mixed the signals.

The mics they used were vocal style condensor mics (Rhode NT2), and a Beyer mic that was apparently designed for kick drum and could therefore handle the low frequencies.

Thanks for the reply..Yes, I've got a legitimate (but rather sad) reason for needing to mic live in this particular situation. I was hoping an 'expert' might advise me:)D ) as to a specific low end mic with an adequate SPL rating. I'll bet the Beyer costs big bucks!
