Does anyone know what happened to bass central store in Florida? There website no longer lists anywhere near the basses and gear they used to. Even most Fenders gave been taken off their site? What is going on?
I went to the site. There's 50 Fender listed. It looks like they converted their website to a hosted Reverb one.
They don't list anywhere near the basses they used to list on their site. They used to have prolly about 100 stingray 4 strings with different colors/options listed. I noticed they no longer have sadowsky or alembic basses or some of the other brands they used to carry. They used to have just about bass u could imagine.
Is the store downsized or just the website? My take was that neither Dave LaRue or Beaver Felton were web guys. I can't remember if I had read somewhere that Beaver ran the site or not. It was fine ten or fifteen years ago but it was never really attractive and these days it looks very dated. Perhaps Reverb is a better alternative for them? In any event, the hosting costs for a website can be a drain if it doesn't pay for itself. I remember when Bass Central used to list hundreds of basses and had hyperlinks to multiple high resolution images for each, even the ones that had long since been sold (I regularly went there to drool over their Alembic and Modulus stock). That in itself will have been a significant hosting cost. On the flipside, having a great website can work wonders. I often visit the websites for Bass Direct and the Bass Gallery at work for a browse. Even then, the Bass Gallery still have the page uk for the Bogart Blackstone I bought from them in June last year complete with some really crisp HD images of it!
Resurrection the thread for my own purposes... How is Bass Central for Reverb Orders? I'm in Canada, and they have something I'm interested in, but I want to make sure I'm not going to get burned. Are they reputable?
I've bought two basses from Bass Central. In 2005, a Dingwall Afterburner 1, and in 2017 a Dingwall NG3. Both transactions were solid. Both Beaver & Grasshopper are well known and somewhat legendary guys in the bass world.
Just today bought a bass from their Reverb shop. Great people to deal with and grasshopper called me to confirm a few details. Good conversation and excellent service. No worries with them.
I just bought 3 sets of Dingwall strings from Bass Central via Reverb. Super quick, easy transaction. Bones
I live less 10 miles from them. Very reputable . Good store . They have outlasted some of the other bass specific stores that are now defunct . Ive bought 3 basses from them over the years . All MTD’s
Way over priced compared to other reverb stores. They always list things with $100 shipping. They won’t discount either. I would check elsewhere to compare prices. If you’re In Canada then you paying shipping and import fees regardless of who you buy from
Hey there! We've been in business, and shipping all over the world for over twenty years. You should call the store directly. We have a way where we can save you quite a bit of $ when shipping internationally. 407-740-5619
Ok, thanks, all. I see various sellers sometimes and since I don't know them, and they're not local, I have to be cautious. Good to know that they're reliable.
Awesome! I want one in a four-string, but am having trouble justifying the cost since I already have two Specials.
