I would like to put together a Jazz bass. I know of a place where can get the body made, and it seems like they've got lots of satisfied customers. Here's my proposed setup:

Alder body with figured maple cap (1/8")
    Badass 2 bridge
    Dimarzio Ultra Jazz pickups
Mighty Mite neck with rosewood fretboard
Hipshot USA made tuners with detuner

I plan on shielding the control cavity. The controls would be a master volume, pan control, and two tones which will be push/pull parallel/series switches. I also plan on applying a tung oil finish to the body, and to the neck after I strip the lacquer off.

Does this sound like it would be a good bass? I am looking for a vintage tone, but maybe a little warmer. What kind of tone would this have? Any suggestions for improvement?

Sounds like you are on the right track to me.
