hey, so I changed strings and my bass is sounding distorted. Here is what it sounds like:

I ajusted the action and i have tried a new battery and it sounds the same. I have tried it on diff amplifiers (making sure the gain structure is proper) and the problem remains. When I play super soft it gets better so this would lead me to think that my strings are buzzing on something. However the distortion sounds electrical and not like a typical mechanical-related buzz.

It is an active Mitchell FB705 Fusion Series 5-String Bass Guitar

I’m stuck and I would appreciate it if someone could give me some insight on what to do. My next move right now is unwinding the strings and making sure there is nothing that is against them when they are being played.

  2. I'm no expert, but maybe check the pickup height. If they're too close they can cause some distortion.

guts and sissy kathy like this.

It sounds like something is wrong with your pre-amp.
