Is anyone planning on getting it? It's coming out tomorrow. It's Victor Wooten and Steve Bailey with special guests including Anthony Jackson, John Patitucci, Oteil Burbridge, Billy Sheehan, and Dennis Chambers on drums and one track on bass. With all the special guests, I would be very interested in this, except that I was very disappointed with Bass Extremes II. I don't know... I'm curious to hear it, but I'm a little wary of it. If anyone gets it, please let me know how you like it. Thanks.
I didn't know there was a Bass Extremes I or II, let alone III...maybe I should get up on the times, eh?
I have the Bass Extremes video. I've always meant to pick up the CD, and to be honest I didn't know they even had a second one! I'll have to order them online, however, as most places don't carry those kinds of CDs... I could probably order it though from the Exclusive Company and save on shipping. So, ultimately, the answer to your question is yes.
...I agree. I already own too many discs that are all too similiar. I am planning on the new Victor Bailey, though(comes out TODAY, right?). And the latest Coltrane LIVE IN EUROPE box just came out!
Well, II is just a CD. The title of it is Cookbook. There's no instructional book as far as I know. And I don't remember what III is called (it's on Victor Wooten's website ), but I don't think there's an instructional book either. I enjoyed 1. When it first came out, there was nothing else like it. The tunes were cool too. IMO, the second one didn't even come as close. And I've also heard other people say that they didn't like the second one either. I'm hoping that the third one is sort of like a comeback where they realized that the sequel was a flop so they decided to outdo themselves! JimK, yup, according to the barnes and nobles website or amazon.com, the Victor Bailey also comes out today. That album is my priority. I just hope I can find it.
Well, I went back on the barnes and nobles website to run a search and the album's not there!?! But it's available on the Audiophile Imports page at a non-import price! (I think the album's been out in Japan for some time.) Please let me know if you have any luck locating the album at a store. The one place I checked so far didn't have it, but perhaps a little bit of searching will uncover it. Thanks!
I have Bass extremes one and it's ok. I don't feel the need to get the other ones. Is the video a live performance of BEx or a documentary of the recording?
It's a live performance. After each song is performed, the video cuts to Victor and Steve after the show, and they go through the song, explaining techniques that they used.
I dug the 1st Bass Extremes Book/CD (the video is OK, not as good as the CD!)... The 2nd one wasn't all that... but I'll probably still check out #3.
