hi, guys. right now im in a state of bass frustration. I just feel like there are somedays i cant improvize somtimes, or other times its difficult for me to do scales, or maybe elaberate my bass playing to different levels. What ever it is, im just sick of it. Sometimes can be a major turnoff, and it will loose my interest for playing bass. Does aanyone else have this probelm? Did the bass greats like jaco and wooten have this probelm? Does anyone know how to get rid of it?

  2. well, i'm sure everybody has this from time to time, i am in the middle of one since none of my bands/projects are really moving anywhere, but you can't push it...go outside or hang out with friends, just take a break from the bass for a while, maybe even listen to different music for a while, and then come back to your bass a few days later and you might feel some inspration.

How's your chord knowledge? If it's light - perhaps digging into a little bit about chords and chord tones can give you a new direction to explore. If it's already strong, then maybe try noodling around with improvisation based on chordal tones, rather than scales - a la Larry Carlton. Bouncing around on chord tones can give basslines and solos a little more 'open' and lively feel than improv rooted in scale runs - IMHO.

hey man, I just jammed with a drummer who is in his second year of conservatorium (something like berkeley and co) and I feel very very very humble ;)

Have you tried a propper warmup? If I didn't have mine, I can't pull off stuff I usually can.

Don't let it hold you back ;)
