My Bassists guitar has been making this really weird buzzing noise when plugged in through his amp which almost sounds like a blown speaker coming through every speaker in his 8x10 cab. We played around for a while trying to figure out what it was and finally we plugged another bass in to see if it still happened and it stopped...so it is the bass causing the problem.

He plays a Fender Deluxe P-Bass special.

I have attached an MP3 sample so you can hear the noise.

    Any ideas?

The Deluxe P-Bass Special is an active bass so the first thing to do is change the battery. There should be a battery compartment on the back of the bass.
