I'm looking for something that I can set a bass or guitar on so that I can play a different instrument and quickly reach over and play the bass on the stand. I'm sorry I can't be more clear, but basically I just need something that will hold a guitar so that it can be played without being strapped on my body. Thanks. :smug:

I think I know what you're talking about... but I can't find a picture. If anyone has the Rush in Rio dvd, Alex Lifeson uses one to play the intro of The Trees on an acoustic, then switch quickly to an electric. Am I correct in assuming that you're looking for a stand that will hold a guitar or bass in playing position while you have another guitar or bass strapped on?

    Exactly!!! :p

  5. Pat Metheny does this to a huge extent in his shows. I'd imagine a stand like that that would be sturdy and usable would be pricey, to say the least.

Yeah, I've seen these before in magazines. I remember it always being Alex Lifeson in those ads. I think it's made by Gracie. I found one at Elderly here. It's expensive. Elderly's asking $225.00! Don't know how well either of the guitar versions would work for bass but you could probably rig something up. I also had a friend who made a stand out of a tripod, some spare aluminum, nuts and bolts and padding. I called him MacGuyver. He positioned the bass in an upright manner and it had similar results to the Gracie in that you could simply walk up to it and play it. He had suffered a shoulder injury that prevented him from being able to strap a bass on so he thought that stand up and made it from spare parts laying around.

Here's the Gracie - it kinda looks like it's flippin' me off!

Thanks guys. I'm not sure if I want to spend that much right now, so I may have to figure out a way to cheat :)
