A few years ago I stumbled on my dream bass, a B.C. Rich NJ Series Virgo bass guitar. It was brand new on eBay. So I sold my Xbox and t.v. So I could get it. When I got the bass I realized it was going to be a heavy bass, but didn't know it was going to be THAT heavy. After playing with it for a half hour my shoulder was really bothering me. So the bass has sat in a case in my bedroom closet, still in perfect condition. I love the look and sound of it, just can't play with it:/

My question is how do I go about preserving and displaying this awesome instrument? I keep ready about humidity controlled display cases, but don't have thousands of dollars at my disposal:/ Any help would be appreciated!

So the bass of your dreams was determined entirely upon aesthetics and not at all in regards to function or playability?

I guess I dont see the point in keeping an instrument around that doesnt get used unless it once belonged to someone famous or something.

Personally, Id seel it to someone.

    Does yours look like this?

Pour a block of Lucite around it, and turn the thing into a table.

Yep that's mine. The tone I get from it sounds amazing and I can play all day with it sitting down, but I just cannot play a full set with it. That and the small stages I play on I can't do much for showmanship like I can with my p-bass or ibanez. All I'm asking is how to preserve and display it?

  5. I don't think you need to worry too much about preserving it. It's a solid-body bass guitar, not a violin. Just hang it on the wall, nothing's going to happen to it.

I have a glass door gun cabinet that I was thinking about putting a wal hanger and some led lighting inside around the inside. it's lockable, and fairly airtight. one day I'll get around to it.

Options for displaying it will result in finish fading over the long term, so in a case in your bedroom closet sounds like the best preservation. :(
