  1. Hey guys, I am wondering your recommendations on a nice bass head for under $350 used? I recntly saw a Fender Bassman 135 sell on ebay for $215, I kicked myself! hard! Well, thanks for your recomendations!

Hartke 3500 and SWR Bass 350. Though make sure you use 4 ohm cabs with the SWR.

    +2 on the Ashdown MAG

u can have one of those for as cheap as $280 or even less! brand new!
  11. :bassist: I recently bought my '75 Traynor Mark III head for $350.00 CAN.

Traynor: Least expensive, most durable, easiest to modify and they just sound like a Bass amp should.

Pete Traynor gets my vote for building the bass amp that gives you the most bang for your buck ! :bassist:

New, Ashdown MAG300 or Hartke HA3500. Rather different amps, try them both if you can.

I picked up a Peavey Mark VIII for $235 with a 2 year warranty - it sounds good, and puts out 600watts @ 2 ohms, 450 @ 4 ohms... Before that I played a Mark III for awhile, and only paid $100 for that, and also had a Mark VI for awhile - I wouldn't overlook used Peavey heads...

Oh yeah! I got one for $180 shipped. Although used only as a backup right now, it is an awesome head for the money. Reputation for indestructability is deserved.

Another + for the Ashdown. I have the 210 combo and run the ext to a 115 cab... love it.
