BASS HEAD HELP! AMPEG, MESA?

    Hi everyone,

    I just purchased a GK 1001RB and although it sounds great, it's not me and it doesn't fit in with my band. The Ampeg sound fits perfectly. I've been using a mid-70s SVT which stopped working. I'm going to get it fixed, but I don't want to take that thing out of my house anymore. So it's time for a replacement.

    I'm about to return the GK and get the SVT4. I've used the SVT4 live and it sounds great and I can get a sweet deal on one.

    The only thing stopping me is that I heard that the Mesa Big Blocks are some of the meanest sounding amps out there. No Mesa dealer here stocks those models. Does anyone have any experience with the Big Block 750 or the Titan V-12?

    I know only Ampeg will sound like Ampeg, so you Mesa users, should I go for the Ampeg or will the Mesa crush it completely?

    i have an SVT and i like it...it takes some time to get all you can out of it...look for a thread titles SVT4 settings...i have been asking advise on that thread over thelast week or so. I think that they both are great amps, it is just a matter of what you like and can afford. I am sure the mesa guys will chime in pretty soon :)

    I already experimented with the SVT4 and got a nice sound out of it. I just want to make sure I checked all my options before I go with it. I've already tried Aguilar DB750, AG500, GK 1001RB, and assorted MarkBass stuff. So far it's the SVT4 (DB750 was a contender, but the price doesn't fit my budget). Mesa Big Blocks are the only amps I can't try out.

    I am playing out of a Bergantino NV610.

    I love Mesa stuff, and chose my 400 over my old SVT, but if that Ampeg fits your needs, then I'd just get that.

    Get the WT800C You can get any sound you like in the list that you put up. What is your budget?

    if your in the city mannys has the titan. or they did last time i was there. it was close to 2gs though

    Thanks for the V-12 thread.

    I've tried Eden. I haven't found it to be what I'm looking for. Thanks for the suggestion so far.

    COOL! I'll call Manny's and check it out. If they have it, that'll settle all my questions.
