Bass into power amp

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by ADbassman, Oct 1, 2004.

  1. I'm considering running my bass direct to a power amp. I have an ibanez musician with active electronics, and a QSC USA 1310. My question is, will this fry anything, can it be done, and is it a good idea?

You'll have no tone controls other than what you may have onboard. You'll also have to reconfigure the gain of the onboard amp to get the requisite +4dB output level, and having done that be prepared to go through a battery a night, give or take, to push that much voltage. So, in order, the answers are: no, yes, no.

I did it once in a pinch, but I sure wouldn't do it often . . . there's a difference between "it works" and "its good" . . . guess which one this scenario is . . . :eyebrow:
