I think Ray Brown and Christian McBride were on that recording. Just do a search on them on google and you should be able to find many recordings....especially with Ray Brown. He is one of the most prolific bassists ever.

I would also start by checking out "Best Jazz Albums of All Time" type lists. With these standards you will run into some of the best jazz bassists recorded and also get turned onto many other incredible musicians.

If you like the no drums and horns format of Super Bass 2 check out the Joe Pass and Nils Hedding Oersted Pederson sessions. Smokin.

    Brian Bromberg's "Wood."

This isn't just a great jazz bass album, it's also a great jazz album period. In other words, it won't bore non-bassists.

  10. BEST Jazz Album:

Well...its "officially" 'Kind of Blue' by Miles Davis...but everyone has different tastes.

Personally, I like "Monk in Tokyo"

What do you mean by "along the same lines" - where bass is the featured instrument, the main soloist - or just bass-only albums? Double bass or electric bass - or do you just mean Jazz?

I could end up listing my whole record collection!!!

Some people might consider them to be : "along the same lines" - it's all music after all!! ;)

Yeah, that's the one. And the follow up to that was "Err what?", which was followed by "Not again!" :D
