So last night the guys and I headed down to Latonia, KY to play a gig that our drummer got us at the American Legion. I'll jump right to the photos:

Here is the gear for the evening, which I have staged outside my house in what is known as a "pile". My 2x10 monitor fell into the flower bed, which was a nice touch. That is my Rumble 500 combo. The basses this evening were two I had not played out before, a MIM Fender Precision Special Deluxe and a Warmoth 5 string jazz with 18 volt pre and Seymour Duncan pickups.

The drive is an easy one. Down to the river valley, short stint up the highway and 2 miles off the exit. The leaves are looking nice right about now around here.

The building is...historic...is the optimistic way of phrasing it.

The room looked like one that could be very boomy. Tile floor, block walls, no soft surfaces to be found. But we got it under control and once we got levels set, people said we sounded good. It was nice because we, for once, had ample room to set up. One thing I will say is we had played a party last weekend and I do feel like we were much tighter as a unit for having kept after it.

Had an ok crowd at times. This was not really a place with what I would consider to be our type of crowd, but we made it work. It will be interesting to see if they ask us back.

Thanks for looking at these awesome photos!

    Hi @Bass Man Dan,

I loved your commute to the gig, pretty. I would have been worried about the acoustics in that room too. I'm glad you made it work. Thanks for the pictures. :)

    Thank you for your indulgence,

    Hey Dan,

Man, I love the photos you rural guys post, especially the fall color ones.

Gotta love "historic" buildings and short drives to them. :D

Glad the gig went well. :)

What’s not to like? Short drive, room to move, and people to listen.

  5. Challenging room and successful gig, that's a good combo.

Thanks for posting the gig report. Your rural drive looks like routes I take around here.

From one "Dan" to another: Great gig report! Maybe next time, we could see the band all together. How'd those basses play?

I know, Dan, my photos are always lacking and they are always poor quality. My phone camera is worthless, so I use an actual digital camera. Might as well be hunting bison with a black powder musket.

The basses played and sounded great, thanks for asking. I was really pleased. The Precision is one that @aproud1 fixed for me recently and it was very easy to play. Since we have started gigging a bit more steadily, I've been mixing up the arsenal and I have not been disappointed yet!

A gig is a gig. Nice to see you made it work sound wise.
    That is always a challenge.

You think that precision deluxe is a keeper? Thought it was pretty nice myself.

And people are right a gig is a gig. I have some great memories in several "historic" locations.

I do think it's a keeper. The only reason I had considered possibly selling it was because I got a very good deal on it initially, so I was kind of tempted to flip it. Now that it's fixed up and running fine, the temptation is gone!

That is what I was thinking... "We've traced his post, and it's coming from your back yard!"
