    Hey steve and mike,
Just one quick question. How do u know which bass notes (Other then the obvious root notes) can be played with what guitar chords. Is there an easy way to figure this out, or maybe a website that tells you. Thanks

    hi josh,

one quick question, but not one quick answer. it works on so many levels - you can play 'anything' against any chord, it's just that each note you play is going to either reinforce or undermine the sense of key and direction of the piece. That's not what you were asking, I know, but the point being that there's no quick equation here. Start by researching how chords are constructed - what are major and minor chords, how are they different, get used to the sound of them, how chord fit together in a particular key. There are some great resources on line, or better yet, buy a book that explains it all properly. Music theory on that level is a huge topic, and I guess this isn't really the place for theory 101...

    good luck, have fun!
