Just looking for suggestions for nice mild bass OD pedal. Right now the way huge pork loin is top of my list.

I also want a completely transparent bass clean boost - I am wide open on this. I am liking the JHS bass bomb boost but not the price.

Finally, I need a solid volume pedal that wont break the bank and doesnt have a huge footprint. Not sure that it matters this is specifically for a bass but yea there you go.

    Thanks guys

I'll only speak to the volume pedal choice here, as my OD and boost experiences are limited.

    Ernie Ball Volume Jr.
Not too expensive, simple and nearly bomb-proof.

The Ernie ball has been on my radar for some time - not sure if I would need the active or passive one? I also have read that they can really suck tone - check this article out by JHS pedals

I really liked the baddy one shoe stuff!

I was recently on the hunt for a nice warm overdrive pedal myself. I bought the following:

    Digitech HardWire Tube Overdrive
    Pork Loin
    TC Dark Matter
    Bad Monkey

I kept the HardWire Tube Overdrive, it was perfect for me. Pork Loin was next, but was more on the Fuzz side of things and I wanted that warm tubey crunch which the Hardwire delivers.

For clean boost, it's hard to beat the BBE Boosta Grande for the price.

I'd go passive. Just be careful to match your impedance and you shouldn't have any tone-suck problems.

If you want like a tube overdrive type of sound, the Ibanez bass tube screamer and the voodoo lab sparkle drive would be a good choice. if it helps, the sparkle drive has a more transparent sound. so does the way huge electronics pork loin pedal.

I've never used my Sparke Drive for bass - never even occured to me - but it's my favorite guitar OD of all time.

    thanks for all the input.

    As far as overdrives go...
Pork Loin is top of my list
    Ibanez bass tube screamer
the Hardwire Tube Overdrive seems like it could work but I couldnt find any videos of it on bass

    cleanboost
top of my list is JHS bass bomb boost
    followed by the mk4.23
    and then the boosta grande

I ended up trading for a Morley mini volume - its the perfect size for my pt jr and the price was right

clean boost: Until now I've been using an EHX LBP-1.. but I read here that many people don't like it because it starts distorting the signal relatively quickly as you turn the knob up. I had always thought it was my preamp distorting because the signal was too hot.. but after reading everyone saying the same thing, I changed my opinion :) I did a little research, and ended up ordering the sfx micro boost.. yesterday: [sfx]:micro-boost

volume: ernie ball passive would be your easiest and most safe choice.

od: theres way too many possibilities, I'd advise you to search the forum and browse through the many threads on the subject...

    OD:
    - VT bass (comes handy with many options)
    - Boss Blues Drive (cuts a bit of low end but I like it)
    - Bad Monkey

    Clean boosr
    - EHX LPB -1 (cheap and good)

    Volume pedal
    - as far as I know any would work .. just don't get the cheapest one

The voodoo lab sparkle drive works very well on bass. this pedal is basically like an Ibanez tube screamer with a clean blend. the modern day equivalent to the sparkle drive would be the way huge electronics pork lion overdrive pedal. if you do have a sparkle drive pedal, give it a try on your bass. you might be amazed how cool it sounds on bass.

That is the one I use. I like. At the volumes I play (4 piece rock band), it lets me boost without adding distortion, etc. A very clean boost.
