When players like jimmy smith and joey defranseco are playing bass on the hammond b3 (the one with the pedals)organ is it all in the left hand or feet or bolth?whats the deal? how do they do it?

  2. It's all in the feet. A really good Hammond player is a wonder to watch when he's soloing--his feet are pumping walking basslines, his left hand is comping, and his right hand is playing melody.
  3. Here in Auckland, New Zealand, we have a great B3 player name of Alan Brown who plays wicked bass with his left hand. His lines are so good, I think he's studied a lot of bassists.

I know a Hammond player who can blow away a lot of bassists with his feet. I hate playing with that guy, because he will not give a bass player any room. But he can play some mean pedals, and plays the rest of the instrument really well, too.
