Looks awesome. To the install question: I got mine installed with mini-magnets, so I can remove it as needed. Pretty cool solution!
Did you make it yourself or buy it? Looks great in any case. Better than many aftermarket ramps I have seen made for Foderas.
I like that solution as well! Great idea. I've never used a ramp, however. Why do you folks find it beneficial?
Schecter C4 I had a local Luthier make it. He charge me 50 bucks. It's ebony and ebony is getting very expensive. I rest my thumb on it and sometimes can be a little aggressive,so I don't think magnets would hold it in place.
So you use it mainly as a thumbrest? Does it serve any other purpose, such as to not let your finger tips pass too deeply into the strings as you play?
That's exactly it. See this explanation on Gary Willis's site http://www.garywillis.com/pages/bass/bassmanual/theramp.html
You'd be surprised at how strong magnets can be. And you'll be surprised when your technique changes because of the ramp and you realize the inefficiency of your former aggressive technique. The tape should hold fine! Mine hasn't moved in over a year.
That's correct. Plus, I also have a fixed thumbrest on it (from before I installed the ramp). You can see it here:
