I'm in need of new strings on my fender mustang. I primarily play rock, punk rock, 80s rock, you get the picture. I also play with a pick about 50%. I guess what my question is, what strings will give me that punchy yet warm tone.
My description isn't the best, but it's hard putting it into words.

Dunlop Super Bright Nickels. Best rounds I ever played. Aggressive midrange, punchy, and plenty warmth for being called “super brights”. They also last long and cost nothing.

  3. If you are looking for rounds, I say DR Sunbeams. Very punchy and warm.
If you are looking for flats, I say GHS precision flats. Very warm.

You need to decide- rounds or flats, and what gauge.
Mustangs short scale = less string tension, so you may want to go up a gauge.
Flats are punchy but not overly bright. I use D'Addario chromes on mine.
