I really like the bass tone on Jamiroquai's Traveling Wthout Moving and Bobby McFerrin's Beyond words and would like to emulate it. I hear people describing bass tones in terms rich lows, upper or lower mids punchy..yadda yadda. If you are familiar with these albums can you describe to me what the tone is and some tips on how to acheive it? I have a generic Ibanez ( no model #) with a reverse P and J setup with Fender stainless flats and a J-Station....any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ditch the flats, get roundwounds and take it from there.

I used to use rounds but I hated the finger squeek so much that I started using flats. Man, I love the feel! On the other hand, if rounds will get me the overall sound I'm looking for....any brand suggestions? Thanks for the reply BTW :)
