My Leduc Logabass has two truss rods? This seems rather unnecasary but there they are. Any idea how i should be tweaking these? I'm just carefully twisting them in equal amounts but I don't really know what I am doing in terms of how dual rods are supposed to interact.
http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31384&highlight=dual+truss Just treat them equally. Dual truss rods are supposed to prevent wide necks from twisting.
My bass teacher's 7-string has 2 truss rods (no my teacher is not JT), but it is common for very wide neck basses to have 2 truss rods.
Thanks for your replies. The neck on this bass is slimmer than both my Wariwcks and they only needed one rod. Sure doesn't seem like it needed them...
I don't think is so much a wider neck thing as it is a five/six/seven string bass thing. One of the fives that I used to own had duel trusses. I found it really helped with set up. With five string you get a lot of uneven tension on the neck. I found when I tuned up the strings to full tension and sighted down the neck, the relief on one side would be slightly different than the other. By having two rods, I could even out the relief. Start by setting each with equal turns to get a general setting of neck relief. String it up and bring it up to full tension and then sight down the neck. If you have uneven relief, tweak one or the other as needed. You should be able to get better and more consistant action by doing this. Chas
My vantage has dual truss rods too. Its a six string and made in korea so i think it needs to compensate the pull coz the stock strings are high tension and the relief is a bit high. Will try to put lower tension strings especially on the the last 3 strings. Just tweak and sight in the both sides of the neck to have best results
