Bass with fastest neck

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Mr M, Aug 16, 2001.

  1. Which bass, do you think, is with the fastest neck and fretboard? Especially w/ the 5 and 6 strings..

A while ago I asked what a fast neck and fretboard should have but it's kicked to another place and disapeared in the shadows.. So another way to learn it.

i think it would have to be one of those solitare basses. I have no idea about 5 and 6 strings, though.

Hagstrom billed itself as "world's fastest neck." For a four string, I don't doubt it one bit from those I tried. It's too small for me. They had to go to an aircraft engineer for help because the necks were arriving broken or warped at importers.

    Carvin is pretty doggone fast.

But when all is said and done, I'm with Tracy, the Atlansia Solitaire, as close as you can get to air bass -

The fastest neck I have played is the Peavey Palaedium. It is thin without feeling wimpy, and the spacing is skinny, but not to the point where you feel bunched up.

In fact, I like it so much, I'm having Curbow model the 6 string neck for my new bass after the Peavey.

The Solitaire looks like it can cut through butter, it's so thin. The anorexic bass... how much do they go for?

    Fastest production 4 string?

    Fender Jazz Geddy Lee.

Fastest 6 that I have ever played is the Peavey Cirrus. Even faster than the very fast Carvin.

Fastest 4 I've played might be my 78 Tobias, with the asymmetrical neck. Effortless.

I've always been impressed with the speed of Ken Smith basses. I can fly on just about any I've ever played. Yamaha TRB6 and Peavey Cirruses are very quick basses, too.

For fretless I have a couple of obvious nominations;)

Fastest 5 string I have played is the Peavey Cirrus 5. Beats everything I have ever played hands down.

Fastest 4 string is, yep, you guessed it, the Peavey Cirrus 4.

Oh yeah, and for 6 strings, well, you know what I am gonna say.;) :p

LOL! How stupid am I! I thought the pic of the Atlansia Solitaire showed a bass in profile - ie. I thought that was the thickness of the bass, not the actual width!!! I went to the website and found out that it is a 1-string bass!

    http://www.cnet.ne.jp/atlansia/bass5.htm

They also make a 2-string bass. They must not sell many of them...

  20. I would have to say one of my basses, I love fast neck's Ibanez sound gear's or washburn xb series
