Hello my friends! Yes, we are back at The Ranch for some good times here on a Friday night. We're just playing the Friday night because we're at Knott's Berry Farm every Saturday thru Sept. 4th. The owner was so anxious to get us back in his room he agreed to set us split a few weekends with Cross County Line, our friend Jed's band. Hello honky tonk! I get to work my own IEM with this little unit. It really sounds great, full stereo and EQ controls too. Look out! Jed and Arnie have matching Kemper units. That's Matt, a friend of Arnie's, filling the pedal steel chair tonight. This is my rig for this cushy gig, just my PB5 and a tuner plugged into the DI box. John is traveling light tonight too, just two keyboards. The room will fill up pretty good later. We had a good Friday night. Jed helps Dani get her monitor mix squared away. You can also use these Behringer units to control the mix in your floor wedge. Dani has never used an IEM so it was decided to use a wedge. I'm sure once she tries IEMs she won't go back. I know @dbase is going to hate this. Sorry Bill. For supper I had the Sesame Seared Ahi Tuna and an Heirloom Beet Salad. This is some fancy eatin'. I topped it off with some DeoxIT sauce. Here's Dev back at The Ranch giving dance lessons. Heather, our entertainment director, will announce the band tonight. Here's Beauty, Beauty, and The Beast. And away we go! We've got cha-cha dancers. We've got line dancers. Dani did an excellent job tonight. She's still a little shy when it comes to relating with the audience but she sang wonderfully. Everyone loved her. Johnny Magic Fingers is concentrating on the intro while I take pictures. Arnie points at his favorite bass player on this stage. Jason filled in for Dave tonight. We won't talk about that. Jed starts us off with another electric slide. I like this perspective from behind the band with the crowd in front. Gee, I hope Dani didn't think I was being pervy weird or anything. Another shot of John with a full house in front of him. This lovely line dancer stayed in front of me all night and was a bit of a distraction. Yeah, I know. Tough gig. Tonight we are back at Knott's with Drummer Dave and a four piece band instead of the seven members we had at The Ranch. Then Sunday morning we are flying to Wisconsin to play a Merle tribute at a Ho Chunk casino. Busy weekend. I won't be able to post any more gig reports until I get back. Try not to miss me too much, OK? I know I'll miss you guys. Take care. Thank you for your indulgence, BassCliff
Hi guys, Ha! I knew it! You probably hate beets too. Thanks! I think I'll reach out to Dani and let her know of my innocent intentions. I always share all my pictures with the band. Thank you for your indulgence, BassCliff
Interesting. I'm thinking of trying out IEM's, and I may need to pick your brain on a unit like this... pretty cool.
A gig ain't a gig if you don't get fed. and that is certainly a gig. You got the look Cliff, gonna have to do some explainin. Merle in Wisconsin? God Bless America.
As always, I love reading your posts! Definitely looking forward to more now that things are opening up, although I did read some disconcerting news regarding LA county.
Aaah, home once again! I do love seeing you guys perform at the Ranch. Dani looks excellent, and I'm certain she'll gain "confidence", for lack of a better word(!) as time goes on. Thanks for the post, good seeing you all again!
I was at Knott's Berry farm when I turned 16 in California listen dude when I come that way I'll buy you the beer cuz I don't drink I will bring this with Ontario plates
My heart soars like a hawk... So good to see you back in action at The Ranch, Cliff. This is looking more like your Ranch posts of old when you set the bar for the rest of us. BTW, that Ahi tuna looks amazing! Beets, schmeets, Bill. That tuna is da bomb! As always, thanks for sharing!
"Gee, I hope Dani didn't think I was being pervy weird or anything". boy if looks could kill!!...too funny...Great pics as always, thanx for sharing!!
Hey! I'll be happy to take the seared tuna! The beets I'll eat as a nice counterpoint but that's a good bit of Ahi Tuna even if it is done a little more than I like (I really like Ahi Sashimi!) It's always fun to see your gig reports Cliff, even if Dani did give you the "eyes up here" look...
Tell y'all what...I am going out that way soon..as soon as I take delivery of my new 2021 Challenger TA... Built in Brampton Ontario Canada.. BAP assembly as "we" CTI guys (truckers) know it.. I told Cliff I would buy the beer and I don't drink but I do love American Bud light so if someone wants the keys for my Challenger ( like that's going to happen)...well all I need from ole Clif is a signed copy of the set list ,bcuz dang it all !.. I don't drink booze.. ..just black coffee..ok? My Android just screwed up so I took a screenshot while I text to speech here you're going to like this check out this picture I'm going to post it right now see you later boys and girls
Awesome Cliff, love it. We had this place here in Tacoma called "McCabe's American Café" many years ago, was the biggest honkey-tonk this town had ever seen, right in the height of the Country craze. That place reminds me a lot of the inside of McCabe's. That Ahi looked amazing! I'll leave out my thoughts on the backline perspective, lest I be viewed as another creepy old man too.
