Festive greetings to you all. Just over 5 years ago, I started a blog about my collection, of mainly basses and some guitars. I have just completed my 200th post and to mark the ocassion, I have created a directory, so you can select the ones you are interested in. It covers the most popular features, so not all of the content but there is plenty to go through. Some reading over the festive period! Any questions, drop me a line. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Cheers. So, if you click on the link, all will be explained. http://flatericbassandguitar.blogspot.co.uk/2014_12_01_archive.html
Flat Eric- Thanks for all your blogs over the years. From the time I was getting into my first Peavey T40, I have found your blogs to be extremely educational on that subject. It really helped me decide on which models I wanted, and what I would like to do to them once I acquired them. The ones you have acquired all seem to be in immaculate concours condition, and that can really help when restoring a damaged or badly painted example. Now that I have finished my entire "T-series" collection, I may very well look into some of the other unusual and wonderful basses that you have posted at length about. Anyone who hasn't checked these out is really missing a great resource! Merry Christmas from Deep East Texas
Thank you for your interest. It has been quite a long journey to get this far and although hard to believe, I have got just about as far to go again!! Hope you keep popping it! Wishing you a great Christmas in Colorado! Cheers.
Thank you you for your very kind words - much appreciated. Perhaps you could send me some shots of your little lot? Would be great to see them. Merry Christmas from Middle England!! All the best. Cheers.
Hi Eric, I also have been checking out your site for about two years, you help me offer great information and helped me pull the trigger on a T-40 and an Ibanez Musician. Thanks for doing what you do!
@Flat Eric, you have a beautiful collection of basses, and your site is a regular visit each time I feel like drooling! Thanks for sharing!
Thought you got rid of your Magnum I, but there it is hiding in the back. Remember asking you about string length from the bridge to the tuners. Thanks! helped a lot!
Sir, you are Very Welcome! That's why I do it! The truth is, it's a labour of love - just wish I had a bit more time - taking the images is what holds me up. I may take 25 odd shots and move the position of the instrument several times, just to get the one image I want and there are usually 4 or five images on each post!! When Lars did the Guitar & Bass feature, he took over 400 shots to get the few that you see. I will try and get through some more of the more interesting/unusual ones I haven't done yet, over the next few months. Merry Christmas to you. Cheers.
I visit Eric's site every time my wife says "what the hell do you need another bass for?" I open the site in a browser and just say "see?". Great resource and stellar collection.
'Hi. My name is Eric and I have a problem.' That's the first thing you must do. Best of luck to you. J/k. That's some kind of collection you have. Congrats.
Interesting timing for this thread. I was just reading one of your posts last night. I think it might have been about the Mexican Urge bass.
@Flat Eric: The link in your first post of this thread is bad. There looks to be a space at the beginning and the "http" is missing the "://"
I used your Electra Outlaw pics in the odd ball bass thread, awesome collection. What is that yellow one on the floor third from the right? Nevermind I found it, the Status Shark
Hey Eric, I think I remember you from the old BassChat days. Just had a look through some of your blogs and there's not only a huge volume of work there, but also some very good information. Looking forward to the 300th! Merry Christmas
Drool away, my friend - there are a lot more to come!!! Nope, I still very much have the Magnum. It is the most read post I have!!!! Don't know if you have seen it - there was an addition to the post, showing images of the string length. Very handy when choosing strings. Cheers.
hey, we finally found someone qualified to tell us what the best bass for metal is! But seriously, which one is your favourite?
Nice one! Glad I could help. Got quite a few more to go, so that would back you up even more!!! Thanks. Keep dropping in - I have a bit more time next near, so the post should keep flowing. That Urge bass was "The" most visited post for a long time and I mean MOST. Now taken over by the Magnum. Thanks. As I said above - keep popping in - plenty more to come!
I like that your collection has many oddball basses in it. Couldn't help noticing the lack of hollowbodies, though. Even with your guitars, I spotted nary a one. Not a fan?
Hi. I just love that term - "what is the best bass for Metal" Look at it this way - look at ALL the Metal players!! How come that all play different basses???? They are the Rock Stars, they are at the height of their game, they are the Heroes to Metal players and yet. . . . . THEY DON'T ALL PLAY THE SAME BASS! So even they don't know!! The best bass for Metal is the one that suits your needs and gives you the sounds and tones that YOU like! The most important thing for a Metal player is. . . . It's just gotta look right!!! Which one is my favourite? What out of all of them???? It's like choosing your favourite child - that is just SO wrong!! I do, however have a most gigged and if I had to reach for just one. . . . . . The one on the left! But. . . . the question is SO unfair to the rest of them. Ask me what my top 20 would be, in no particular order and I would have a good think about it! Go on. . . . . . Ask me!!! Cheers.
