Basses with pickup 'switches'

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by Damani311, Jan 2, 2008.

  1. That allow the basses pickups to do one of the following:

When the switch is in the up position the bridge pick-up is humbucking and routed in series.
When the switch is in the middle position the bridge pick-up is single coil and routed as humcanceling with the neck pickup.
When the switch is in the down position the bridge pickup is humbucking and routed in parallel.

What is the sound differences, if any, when using these different modes? Also what in the world is the difference between HumBUCKing and HumCANCEling?

    Thanks.

(Note: this setup is found on a Streamer Jazzman)

Dunno about that switch config, I'd just as soon have the traditional both pickups fully humbucking in the middle posistion. As fas as I know humbucking and humcancelling mean the exact same thing. Is that a switch option for the $$?
