As the title might suggest I'm a bassist seeking a band in Paris. I moved from Britain 3 months ago and have started to look for a band, however I have struggled to find an entrance in to the Paris music scene.

Does anybody know any websites or forums to join to find bands? I've tried all I can think of in Google searches and found nothing apart from musolist.com. I know there are a couple of TB members who are from Paris, I know networking is king, but I need to start somewhere.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and apologies if this is a misplaced thread.
  2. I feel ya, i moved here about 7 months ago, though musically wise things are going quite well. :)

After more strenuous Googeling I found Audiofanzine.fr but every other website and band ad else seems to be 5 years old.

Hey jking, as a french dude maybe I can help you.

I'm near Lyon, which is quite a long way from Paris, so I can't give you any pointer specific to this area. If you are looking for websites audiofanzine.fr is indeed a good one, and you may also want to take a look at www.zikinf.com (that's where I found my Funk band).

You might as well visit these two forums :

I'm not very familiar with them ; they're probably not as lively as talkbass but you might get something out of it anyway.

You should also look for bars that have open jam nights, I know there are some near where I live and there definitely must be some in Paris or nearby. It is a quick way to meet musicians and get that network started.
A little bit of trivia : we got our own word for jam session : "boeuf". :p

    Welcome to France ! ;)

    Edit :

Merci. I've got a couple of contacts from Audiofanzine.fr but I'll have a look at your suggestions as well.
With Paris being so big there will be lots of bars, I just need to find them.
Isn't 'boeuf' a translation of 'Beef', the meat?

Yes it is. The word also stands for an animal, the ox.
