I have been playing bass for about 8 months and got to a point with my bass teacher that he doesnt have much to show me ( he is a guitarist) so iI signed up and am starting lessons with The best guy in the area for lessons. But I am looking to stay with my current teacher as well. I am thinking about starting to take either Classical guitar or regular guitar to help exand my theory as well as techniques.. I have been told that classisal guitar has alot of techniques that can be applied to bass. any ideas on this.. any sugestions if i should take classical guitar or electric guitar lessons??? thanks for any suggestions
harley, go with classical. I play classical guitar and it helped me. Bass always felt natural to me but playing classical is a real challenge. It taught me to play bass and melody simultaneously. Good luck. _________________________________ jim obrien http://www.illustriousday.com
Tyhanks i bought a classical guitar and i am starting lessons on it this sat. i am also starting lessons with the "best in the area" this sat. so i got my work cut out for me
I started out on classical guitar and I think it in particular and any classical training in general is invaluable. It forces you to focus on HOW you are playing instead of WHAT you're playing. You play the same thing that everyone else has played for the last 400 years. Technique and execution is everything. Nothing but good can come from that. You can always spot the classicaly trained guy's, they're the ones that have the left hand that looks like a spider crawling up and down the neck. They're the ones that can completely change their tone by moving their right hand a half an inch forward or backward. Go for it. Oh yeah, and chicks DIG classic guitar
