  1. I keep wanting to join a band...turning 40 in November.

I'm not sure of my skill level and most "cover band" music doesn't interest me. I would love to find an original band or start one, but I'm looking for some advice on how to build up my skill level. I tried one band that played covers and I seemed to pick it up quick and got bored playing "I love rock and roll" by Joan Jett and other songs similar.

here is some stuff that I've done over the last few years...any critisism is welcome. If you were a guitar player and heard this stuff would you cringe?

The best thing you could do would be to join an all-originals band that plays at a skill level above yours. You'll be challenged, and learn a lot, fast. I think your recordings show that you could handle an indie/alt originals band without any major problem.
