Bassists are awesome.

I've only been playing bass for 5 years so my main instrument is keyboards. I just wanted to tell (or perhaps remind) all you bassists how awesome you guys are.

I mean think about it, you have to be right on top of the structure of the song and if you play passively if you're unsure about something in the song it really stands out. You can't really hide like other instrumentalists can. Also when you take a bass solo you don't have much to "float" over. You have to have a really strong sense of rhythm otherwise you can't mess around with time while you solo much.

Playing without a bass is no fun at all, and yet bassists are usually overlooked, solo last, etc.

So cheers to bassists!

 

Yeah I just realized that all the bass players I know are like best friends to me. I actually don't know any bass player friends that I dislike.

But this is true, good bassists are awesome.
