I know there is an upcoming TB get together in Boston, but how many of you TB'ers out there are from the biggest little state in the Union?
Thor, theShaz92 and Freaky Fender seem to be regulars on BG. There are a couple of guys up in Portsmouth, but I haven't heard anything from them, there was also a DaveinWarwick on DB, but I haven't seen him around lately. Check the NE Talkbass thread, and PM Josh Walsh if you have an interest. August 16th is the target date. Venue is undetermined at this point. Thor
I'm right here in Saunderstown, right by the narrow river... We should have a little mini RI TB get together...
Hey Dude, I'm in nearby Fall River MA. Spend a lot of time in Providence though. I was planning on going to the get-together, but the wife won two nights in Key West and wants to go that weekend. We're currently in negotiations
Freaky Fender, that's three of us in one town! Shaz92 and myself are from NK also, where do you go to school?
Narragansett Pier School, but Shaz has been trying to get me to come to NK high... we should meet up at GC or Daddy's... or wal-mart to a lesser and move convienet extent
That'd be cool, you and Brian (Shaz) should come down to the store I work at (Main Street Music) in East Greenwich sometime.
Good idea, but please spell my name right next time, it's kind of annoying to see it spelled with an I, It's Bryan
A guy named Steve Caraccia bought the store after Everett passed. He's the bass player from local cover band Cool Beans. The store has done a 180, and we carry Alvarez Acoustics, Austin Electrics, and other lines to follow. Stop by sometime, we're not Daddys or Guitar Center, but we not too shabby.
Also, as of today, we are offically an AllParts dealer, so you Rhode Island bassists, stop buy for your bass parts!
I stopped by last night and met Steve. Nice Modulus he has. Sorry I missed you. I played the DB he has on the floor, I believe I have now been cured of DB G.A.S. Reminded me of when I played violin as a kid... The new store renovations are nice. Are there still lessons available there, for intermediate Bass players? I need some tuning up, I'm getting rusty. Take care, Thor
yes sir, we still offer lessons. We've got three great teachers on staff, and we're up to about 80 students. We're a pretty ambisious little store. Do you live in the area?
I live in Newport County, but work in Warwick. Who are the teachers, Are Tom and John still teaching there? Just curious. Thanks Thor
Yep, John is still with us, and we do have a Tom, probably not just the one your thinking of. Tom Valaros teaches drums
There is a get together apparently coming together 2-6 PM in Providence for TB members, check the last part og the BG/OT NE GetTogether thread. Thor
Heading out to Rhode Island later today with the family. This will be our first time for this state. Should be fun and a nice change of pace (Atlanta). We have no real agenda other than going.
Just checked into the Omni hotel in Providence Rhode Island and went into the bar and ran into Sting.
