Reminds me of my gig in Vancouver, back in the '60's. Retinal Circus, upstairs (acid), Elegant Parlor, downstairs (soul)... I was downstairs ;).

  2. That was a great place, it finally closed for good after several owners and name changes a couple of years ago I guess although hopefully it will open again. I used to play there a lot, I grew up in Millbury about 5 miles from that place.

Bob, your country songs yesterday reminded me of this favorite from 1975

    That's hilarious!
Boy, if you bailed on that before the 90 second mark, you'd miss one of the biggest reversals in country music songwriting, LOL

  9. I had a hard time when I first joined that band, I came from playing hard rock and thought it was well... embarrassing, but I ended up really liking it though.
The lead guitarist and I joined at the same time, I had played with him in bands before that and still play with him hear and there.

Yes, but then there is soul...fortunately there is room for us all!

  11. This just came up on YouTube, don't really think it's a live version but it was a great tune from 1964, I think they were England's Peter Paul and Mary:

  12. Smooth segue. Tommy Cogbill played that tune. I loved his lines and tone.

The Seekers were actually an Australian group who hit the big time in the U.K. and then the world. Don't you remember the discussions about them here? Yeah, a great sound from our youth, still sound great!

Yeah, there was a vid of them in the studio - it was impressive.

"Hello Walls" was another good one along with "Countin' Flowers on the Wall".

  17. I posted 'Flowers on the Wall' somewhere or other a few weeks ago. I was young enough that watching Captain Kangaroo resonated with me even though I was past him at that point.

The great Doug Lubahn on bass. He was a TB brother and active on the site before passing end of 2019. Such a great, muscular tone here.

Another great Doug Lubahn performance. Not just the haunting riff, but the way he enhances the break with his groovy changeup

I would have no problem joining a good, working country band. I like the simple but effective 1&5 or walking basslines and I enjoy doing harmonies. As it is now, our band doesn't play what I prefer to listen to the most.
